About the Organization

Established in 1982, the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California (UVSA) is a non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organization committed to cultural diversity, education, youth, and community service. Its members include alumni and student organizations of more than 20 universities and colleges ranging from Santa Barbara to San Diego. The UVSA alumni and members are among the finest leaders, professionals, and educators in the community. Honesty, dedication, and diligence are characteristics of our organization. With emphasis on community involvement, one of the goals of the UVSA is to support educational, charitable, and cultural programs in the community. A few examples of these programs include:

  • Over $100,000 in festival proceeds were awarded to charity and non-profit organizations in the community and to refugee camps overseas
  • Over $50,000 were awarded as scholarships to Southern California students
  • A weekly all-major tutoring program for high school students
  • An annual national Summer Youth Camp to foster leadership and community service
  • An annual Summer Leadership Retreat to train leadership skills for members
  • College and Career Days
  • Financial Aid Workshops
  • Inter-Collegiate Sports Tournaments
  • A bi-monthly, bilingual NonSong magazine serving the Vietnamese-American youth
  • An annual Tet Festival

Tet Festival

The Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California is a non-profit organization operating under the IRS Code, Section 501 (c) (3). Donations are deductible to the maximum allowed.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California is to help students succeed in their academic endeavors and assimilation into the American society and at the same time to preserve their Vietnamese heritage. In addition, our goal is to assist youths to gain credibility in the community in order to efficiently serve the public and contribute to the rebuilding of a free and democratic homeland.
